Who We Are

Caring Hearts for Canines (CHFC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit canine rescue organization based in Moore County, North Carolina. Founded in 2014 by Jennifer Johnston Chopping, CHFC was formed with a mission to save dogs from high kill shelters that would otherwise be euthanized. North Carolina has one of the highest rates of euthanasia, and a high stray population that keeps shelters at maximum capacity.

CHFC has a growing network of volunteers, community supporters, fosters and collaborative partners. In 2023, after an extensive fundraising campaign and a generous matching donation, CHFC purchased the rescue building cementing their place in the community for years to come.  If you would like to volunteer, please click HERE!

What We Do

The Mission of Caring Hearts for Canines is to rescue and re-home dogs at high risk of euthanasia in the shelter system and give them a second chance at a life filled with love.

Daily operations of CHFC include providing veterinary care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping and socialization. Additionally, CHFC works to educate the public on the animal welfare system, the importance of spay & neuter, heartworm prevention and proper care of their canine companions.
